
Happy Un-Sugar Fast
On the day after every one of my birthdays my dad would wish me a “Happy Un-Birthday”. I looked forward to it every year, especially because I would always get sad when something special was over. Today let’s celebrate! Happy Un-Sugar Fast my friends!!!

Sugar Fast Day 40
And just like that we’re at Day 40.
Wow! I don’t know about you, but there are so many emotions coursing through my mind, body, and soul right now. I’m excited and thankful that we’ve made it to this 40th day, but there’s also a bit of a sadness hovering over me.

We are at Day 39! Does it seem possible?! Well, it is! You’ve made it through thirty-nine days without sugar!!
Today we’re checking in with ourselves once again. How are you? Is there anything in particular that comes to mind when you think of what you’ve gained during this fast?

Why are you doing this sugar fast? As for me, I’m doing it for many reasons… for my health, as a reset, for spiritual transformation, and for my sanity.

At this point do you feel like these last days are just flying by?! Let’s not forget to be mindful during the homestretch of this sugar fast. It’s not over yet! Today, if you haven’t already, I want you to begin to think about life beyond Day 40 of this fast.

It’s amazing how fast time flies by! Can you believe we’re already at Day 35? How are you feeling today?

Sugar Fast Day 34
Welcome to Day 34!
Before this sugar fast, I’d make a salad with dill sprinkled on it and not really taste the dill, or I’d make a flavored cup of coffee and not really notice the flavor, or even eat a strawberry and not taste all of the intricate flavors in it. But now, on this thirty-fourth day of fasting, I can taste everything immensely.

Don’t become complacent now! Yes, we’ve reached Day 33 and are nearing the end of this fast, but please don’t become lazy about it. Keep the fire going within you! Stay passionate about what you are doing and why you are doing it!

And suddenly we’re at Day 32!
Today we give thanks for all of the healing that has come with this sugar fast. Whether it be physical, emotional, spiritual, or otherwise. Healing on all fronts. Let’s give thanks to the transformation happening in our lives, and let’s continue to pray for any other form of healing you may need, even those hidden things that you may be unaware of.

Sugar Fast Day 28
Happy Day 28!
I almost just ate a chocolate covered raisin out of one of my little one’s snack bowls. Awwww!! How easy it is to slip back to a place of mindless wandering and snacking! You know, the thing is that if I wasn’t doing this sugar fast then I most likely would have had that chocolate covered raisin and then continued to have a bunch more. More more more. Like sometimes it’s never enough, right?!

As we continue on this fasting journey, let us not become stagnant. A way in which we can do that is to think of others. We’ve been down this road earlier on this sugar-free journey, and today we are going to welcome it once again.

It’s Day 26!
Today I have so many thoughts and emotions wrapped up in this fast and all that it is stirring up in me. This fast is so much more than giving up sugar for 40 days. It’s a time of transformation, where we take a deep dive into all that we have been through and all that we are. It is such a beautiful thing to be challenged in this life. And fasting surely does challenge us. It can be so hard, and you can even feel like you’re drowning at times when we’re faced with difficulties, but I’ll tell you my friends, there is beauty within the ashes.

When you’re feeling discouraged, do you turn to food? Or do you instead turn away from food? What is the relationship you have with your emotional state and your food intake? On this 25th day, let us examine what we eat and the reasons why we eat it. Do you run to grab something sugary, or anything for that matter, to try to get you through a meltdown from your kids, your spouse… yourself?
