Sugar Fast Day 28
Happy Day 28!
I almost ate a chocolate covered raisin out of one of my little one’s snack bowls. Awwww!! How easy it is to slip back to a place of mindless wandering and snacking! You know, the thing is that if I wasn’t doing this sugar fast then I most likely would have had that chocolate covered raisin and then continued to have a bunch more. More more more. Like sometimes it’s never enough, right?! I love this sugar fast for so many reasons, but what I love so much is the awareness and self-control that is cultivated from it. The ability to say no to certain foods and, in turn, say no to certain unhealthy situations and habits as well. It is such a gift.
I am constantly trying to instill the concept that less is more to my children. Teaching them that having more more more, will only leave them wanting more. It creates a stirring inside of you where nothing is ever enough, simply because it’s true. Our earthly desire to want and want and want and get and get and get, is not capable of ever truly filling you up. It’s just not possible. You will only be left feeling unsatisfied and empty.
So today, let’s be contented with what we have. Let’s not only slowly savor the healthy food we are eating, let’s do the same with the healthy rhythms we are creating. Let us develop a posture of appreciation and abundance in what is always being provided for us. Allow things to be enough. You are enough!
