Sugar Fast Day 12
Hello to Day 12.
I don’t know about you, but I really wouldn’t mind some blueberry pancakes or a cinnamon bun right now. Don’t do it!! Haha!
If you aren’t following the devotional, The 40-Day Sugar Fast by Wendy Speake, I highly suggest you do. It is beyond inspirational and is just what I’m in need of to be by my side as I journey throughout this fast. It’s this devotional that keeps me craving our fast instead of sugar. Because even though sugar has such a stronghold on my life at times, there are so many other things as well, like anger, disappointment, a lack of joy, expectations not being met… At times, all of these factors take over the light and the truth that lay inside me as well. And they are so closely entwined with the desire to down a bag of sugar during the middle of the afternoon. Today is the day to explore what else is shackling you. What else is controlling you and tempting you into going down a path of darkness and despair.
It’s incredible what sugar does to your body, your mind, and your soul. It teases you. It taunts you until you cave in. Then it abandons you, leaving you empty and craving more. So cut ties with it. Say so long you wily temptress ;) And then contemplate what else is doing the same and say good-bye to that as well. Fill your mind, body, and heart with rich, beautiful, wonderous things that allow you to thrive. Sugar will never be enough. You are worth it, you GB!
