Snow Cream
It recently snowed in Virginia Beach. When it was all said and done, we got about a foot of snow. I love it! Growing up in Connecticut, snow was part of life in the wintertime and to me, it was always magical. Even when it began to turn brown and slushy, there was still something fantastical about the world around me being covered in snow, muddy or not.
Here in VA Beach, a foot of snow shuts the city down for a bit. Which can be quite frustrating, but also pretty magical, especially with little ones and their wide-eyed amazement and carefree nature. The other morning our friend at the bus stop told us for the first time about Snow Cream. Once she mentioned sweetened condensed milk, I was sold. You can make almost anything taste good by adding sweetened condensed milk, within reason that is. So, thank you to my fellow bus stop mom, Carrie, for sharing this amazing recipe with us!
Side note: I personally don’t measure precisely when I cook, bake, make snow cream ;), etc. It’s the only other place (besides mindful movement), where I don’t think twice about things, and just let go and have fun. My measurements are just rough suggestions. So feel free to adjust accordingly, truly enjoy, and maybe even discover something new!
Snow Cream Recipe
freshly fallen snow collected in a medium sized mixing bowl (or freshly gathered snow)
1-2 tsp vanilla extract (I fill the lid of the vanilla extract bottle twice and dump it in)
1 small can of sweetened condensed milk
Mix together with a spoon and eat right away! It’s simple and delicious.
It seems that there are a bunch of different variations, so feel free to make it your own! This just happens to be the one we made and thoroughly enjoyed.
Take care and stay well,
-Tara xo
