When in Doubt… Run

I woke up today feeling on edge.  I wanted to just sit in my stupor and drink my coffee.  But instead, I decided to pick myself up and run. These days a run typically means me pushing the little ones in the jogging stroller, while my 7-year-old rides his bike. Which is such an awesome privilege, but not the same as running by yourself. And this morning, I get the gift of running by myself, so I’m going to take it! I splash through the puddles on the ground from last night’s rain and welcome the water from the dripping tree branches falling on my head. In this moment, even though I am exhausted and anxious, I’m so glad that I decided to get off of my tush and run. This is my time when thoughts come to me, and inspirations and realizations happen. A time where I challenge my body, my mind, and my heart. So, my advice to you today is this: when in doubt… run! Do it! Do what it is that may seem difficult or uncomfortable or challenging, but that you know is going to make you stronger or help you find the light again.

And then right when you start to let your analytical mind try to talk you out of running any further, a song will come on that you danced to in your living room as a kid and you know it’s him embracing you, not just the wind blowing. And it gives you just what you need to keep running more… but not too much more bc you have a plane to catch ;)
